Stu Hemingway grew up on the south shore of Massachusetts. At age 13, Stu became a 3rd generation builder and was taught valuable life lessons by his father and grandfather on how to run a successful business. In addition to learning his craft, he developed a strong work ethic, meticulous attention to detail, and the value of listening to the needs of his customers. He now passes these traits on to his son Max, who follows in the family tradition by becoming a 4th generation builder.
Stu is a licensed Construction Supervisor with over 40 years of experience working in all areas of residential and commercial construction. In 2001, Stu became Vice President of Weathervane Construction Corporation and joined forces with Weathervane Development Corporation to form
Weathervane Construction Corp. has built the following local projects: Weathervane at Chestnut Gardens (Hingham), Steven’s Way (Hingham), Meredith Woods (Weymouth), Jacobs Lane (Weymouth), and their signature development that was featured in Architectural Magazine, The Village of Weathervane in South Weymouth. The Village of Weathervane is an active adult community consisting of 156 single, detached homes, with a surrounding golf course. Throughout his career, Stu has built more than 400 new homes and countless custom kitchens, vanities, and built ins.
A cabinet maker and custom home builder by trade, he listens to the goals of his customers and creatively produces innovative designs that meet their needs and surpass expectations. What separates Stu is his extensive design background and his knack to suit any style or vision his clients may have. Pioneer gets most of its’ work from referrals and repeat business, so it places great importance on the character, and communication skills of its’ employees. “Building relationships with our customers and our workers is the most important thing we build.” Pioneer also has great relationships with local suppliers and is extremely loyal to some of the best subcontractors on the South Shore. This allows us to stay on top of the ever-changing building industry so we can offer the newest technologies, materials, styles, and trends.
Pioneer Custom Builders & Developers Inc. has two locations, the main office located in Rockland, MA is a 10,000 sq. ft. facility that includes state-of-the-art manufacturing that combines modern CNC manufacturing technology with some of the finest, hands on, craftsmen in the area. A satellite office in Cotuit is convenient for work done on Cape Cod & the Islands.
Stu and his wife Maureen are residents of Marshfield, and also spend time with family & friends at their summer home on Cape Cod. They have four children - Max, Liana, Kendra, & Jake.
